Sputnik Light is most suitable for revaccination after the first vaccination with Sputnik V. This was announced on Monday, November 29, by the director of the Gamaleya Center Alexander Gintsburg.

Also, he said, the effects of mRNA vaccines (drugs based on ribonucleic acid), such as Moderna or Pfizer, are best enhanced by Sputnik V.

“The effectiveness of Sputnik V against the delta strain is, according to various estimates, from 83% to 90%, which is much higher than the effectiveness of other vaccines. Therefore, it is very good to boost Moderna and Pfizer with Sputnik, and Sputnik V should be boosted with the same Sputnik Light, “Gunzburg told TASS news agency.

He clarified that it is possible to undergo revaccination after Sputnik V with another drug, but the combination with Sputnik Light gives the best effect.

In addition, the scientist said that ILV vaccines are best used to protect strains that preceded the appearance of the Delta coronavirus variant, for example, the Wuhan strain, since in the case of the Delta strain, the effectiveness of antibodies against proteins formed in mRNA vaccines decreases to 50%.

“MRNA vaccines, they are good, but they are created in such a way that the protein – antigen that they supply to our cells is in the same spatial form,” added the director of the SIC.

“Sputnik V”, at the same time, has a wider spectrum of formed antibodies that neutralize the virus, since the antigen can be in various states, concluded Gunzburg.

On November 26, the head of the Russian Ministry of Health, Mikhail Murashko, said that the combination of Sputnik V and Sputnik Light shows the best protection, over 92%.

On November 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin addressed the country’s residents with a request not only to be vaccinated against coronavirus, but also to undergo revaccination in a timely manner. According to the Russian leader, the decision to undergo the vaccination procedure must be voluntary.

The Russian vaccine against coronavirus infection Sputnik Light is the first component of Sputnik V. At the same time, Sputnik V is the world’s first registered drug against COVID-19. The vaccine was registered in May.

The Russian authorities, against the backdrop of a worsening epidemiological situation, urge citizens to get vaccinated in order to protect their health and take care of their loved ones. Russians are vaccinated for free. Five vaccines against coronavirus have been registered in the country: Sputnik V, Sputnik Light, EpiVacCorona, EpiVacCorona-N and KoviVac.
