Guri City Hosts Program to Celebrate Bang Jeong-hwan’s Legacy
In the Gyomun Bang Jeong-hwan Library from July 31 to August 2, Guri City collaborated with Yonsei University‘s Department of Library and Information Science to host a special program called “Bang Jeong-hwan Content.” This initiative aimed to engage children in learning about the renowned children’s rights advocate, Bang Jeong-hwan.
The program consisted of various interactive activities under two main themes: “Let’s do it together with Mr. Bang Jeong-hwan” and “Let’s protect children’s human rights.” Activities included:
Learning about Bang Jeong-hwan’s life through interactive sessions.
Participating in a Sofa Quiz Team Competition.
* Sending letters of appreciation to Bang Jeong-hwan.
The program also included a reading session featuring stories by renowned author Shin Ji-myeong, followed by discussions about protecting children’s rights and combating discrimination.
Furthermore, the prospective librarians analyzed and simplified complex papers related to Bang Jeong-hwan, presenting the summarized findings in engaging card news format for children.
Guri City Mayor Baek Gyeong-hyeon expressed his satisfaction with the program, highlighting the valuable contributions of university students in creating a positive impact on children. He emphasized the city’s commitment to supporting future librarians in gaining practical experience and providing enriching programs for young minds.
