Guro-gu announces tips for disposing of kimchi waste for two months from November in celebration of kimchi season

by times news cr

As Guro-gu celebrates the kimchi season, we will provide guidance on how to dispose of kimchi waste for two months starting in November. In celebration of the winter kimchi season, Guro-gu began providing information on how to dispose of kimchi waste for two months from November 1 to December 31.

In order to facilitate the discharge and collection of large quantities of kimchi waste, the district temporarily allows kimchi waste exceeding 20 liters (L) to be disposed of in general waste volume-rate bags (white) during this period.

However, kimchi waste less than 20 liters (L) can be disposed of in the food waste volume-rate bag (yellow) as before.

In particular, in the case of apartment complexes, if you put more than 20 liters (l) of kimchi waste into a food collection bin or individual meter (RFID), the bin may overflow, making it difficult to dispose of other food waste, so it is recommended to place it next to the collection bin.

In addition, when discharging more than 20 liters (l) of waste, only kimchi waste must be placed in a volume-rate general waste bag. If mixed with general waste such as kimchi plastic, a fine of 100,000 won will be imposed. For further details, please check the Guro-gu website’s news bulletin board or contact the Cleaning Administration Department.

A Guro-gu official said, “Residents often experience inconvenience in disposing of waste due to the large amount of waste generated during the kimchi season,” and added, “We ask for active cooperation from residents in accordance with the temporary discharge guidance.”

Meanwhile, Guro-gu opens ‘Seoul-style kids cafe Gaebong 1-dong branch’. Gaebong 1-dong, a Seoul-style kids cafe, is a customized play space where children can play safely and happily while reducing the burden on guardians.

Gaebong 1-dong, a Seoul-style kids cafe with a total floor area of 248.2㎡, is located on the 2nd floor at 318-15 Gyeongin-ro. The indoor play space is comprised of a variety of play facilities where children can develop healthy habits, learn cooperation, and unleash their imagination through physical activity, including a trampoline, challenge area, slide, role play, and media play. In addition, convenient spaces such as an internal restroom and a nursing room were provided.

The opening ceremony will be held on the 28th. Acting Guro-gu Mayor Eom Eui-sik will attend to declare the opening and tour the facility.

The target audience is children aged 3 to 5 (2021 to 2019) and accompanied by a guardian. Play care services are provided to observe play activities and prevent safety accidents.

The admission fee is 2,000 won for children and 1,000 won for guardians. When using play care service, an additional 2,000 won per person is added.

Open Tuesday through Sunday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Closed every Monday. 20 people can use it for 2 hours each time (1st session 9:30 am, 2nd session 1:00 pm, 3rd session 3:30 pm).

Online advance reservation is required, and reservations can be made on a first-come, first-served basis starting at 9 a.m. every Tuesday through the Our Neighborhood Kium portal. However, only one reservation per day is possible.

The district plans to maintain a pleasant environment by disinfecting and cleaning facilities so that children can play safely and freely before and after each session.

A Guro-gu official said, “We hope it will be a space where children can dream happily,” and added, “We will continue to strive to create a play space where children and parents can laugh together.”

The Seoul-style kids cafe Gaebong 1-dong branch will be operated on a trial basis until November 17th and will be officially operated from the 19th after fixing any problems.
