Guro-gu held a signboard ceremony for winter snow removal measures. Guro-gu held a signboard hanging ceremony to promote winter snow removal measures in 2024/25 at the integrated control center on the 4th floor of the district office main building at 11 am on the 15th.
The district established a comprehensive winter plan to ensure that residents can spend the winter warmly and safely this winter, and began full-scale snow removal measures to ensure rapid snow removal.
To this end, the Guro-gu Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters will operate for four months from November 15 to March 15 of next year, focusing on minimizing inconvenience to residents.
At the sign-hanging ceremony on this day, Acting Guro-gu Mayor Eom Eui-sik, the Director of Safety and Transportation, the Road Manager, and related staff members attended, reported on the plan and status of snow removal measures, and discussed related matters.
Acting Guro-gu Mayor Eom Eui-sik asked, “In the event of snowfall, we hope that all employees will make every effort to remove snow and minimize damage to Guro-gu residents.”
Meanwhile, Guro-gu is holding a college entrance information session for the 2025 academic year to provide support to test takers and parents who are having difficulty preparing for the regular entrance exam.
In the 2025 CSAT, it is expected that the highest number of N-students ever will appear due to an increase in the number of medical school recruits, so it is necessary to prepare for new types of questions to secure discrimination.
The college admission information session will be held on the 16th of next month from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM at the district office auditorium.
At the briefing session, Nam Yoon-gon, director of Megastudy Education Co., Ltd.’s Entrance Strategy Research Institute, will serve as a lecturer on CSAT grading results, CSAT result analysis, key issues of regular application, and essential elements of application strategy.
The district will recruit up to 150 test takers and parents on a first-come, first-served basis until December 13th. Those who wish to participate can apply through the Guro Learning Support Center website.
A Guro-gu official said, “We hope that the briefing session will be of great help in establishing an admission strategy that suits you,” and added, “Guro-gu will work together to ensure a successful entrance exam.”
In addition, the district will operate an intensive college counseling period in preparation for regular admission from December 16th to 30th. Former and current career advancement experts provide individual counseling on regular application strategies based on CSAT test scores and school records.
For regular admissions and intensive college counseling, you can apply through the Guro Learning Support Center website starting at 10 a.m. on the 2nd of next month.

What key elements should local governments include in their winter safety plans?
Time.news Interview with Dr. Han Ji-ho: Expert on Urban Planning and Community Safety
Editor: Welcome, Dr. Han! Thank you for joining us today to discuss Guro-gu’s recent initiatives for winter snow removal and overall community safety.
Dr. Han Ji-ho: Thank you for having me! I’m excited to delve into such an important topic.
Editor: Guro-gu held a signboard ceremony recently to signal the start of their snow removal measures for the upcoming winter season. How significant is it for local governments to actively promote their winter preparations?
Dr. Han Ji-ho: It’s extremely significant. A proactive approach demonstrates that the local government is attentive to the residents’ needs, especially during winter when snow can cause considerable disruptions. By holding such ceremonies, they not only raise awareness but also set a standard for accountability. Residents feel reassured that their well-being is prioritized.
Editor: Absolutely. The district’s comprehensive winter plan aims to ensure that residents have a safe and warm winter. Can you explain the main components that should be included in such plans?
Dr. Han Ji-ho: Certainly! An effective winter plan should include coordination between various departments—like emergency services and transportation—to guarantee rapid response times. Regular communication with residents through updates about snow removal schedules can help to minimize inconvenience. Additionally, staffing and equipment readiness are crucial. Ensuring that there are enough snowplows and personnel prepared to act swiftly can make all the difference.
Editor: The Guro-gu Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters is operational until mid-March, focusing on minimizing residents’ inconveniences. How does this proactive stance contribute to overall safety in the community?
Dr. Han Ji-ho: Being proactive about safety in winter weather can reduce incidents of accidents and injuries. Swift snow removal prevents hazardous conditions, not only on roads but also on sidewalks and public transport paths. This coverage supports vulnerable populations, such as the elderly or those with disabilities, who may struggle more with access during snowy conditions.
Editor: At the recent ceremony, Acting Guro-gu Mayor Eom Eui-sik emphasized teamwork among employees to remove snow effectively. How essential is teamwork in execution during such critical times?
Dr. Han Ji-ho: Teamwork is absolutely vital. In emergency situations, clear communication and cooperation between teams can accelerate response times. Each department has its role, and syncing efforts ensures comprehensive coverage. Additionally, creating a culture of collaboration fosters morale and encourages employees to go above and beyond in their roles.
Editor: Moving to another crucial topic, Guro-gu is also organizing college entrance information sessions for the 2025 academic year. What challenges do you foresee for students and parents this year, especially with an expected record number of N-students?
Dr. Han Ji-ho: The increase in N-students means more competition for college placements, especially in fields like medicine. This can create a heightened level of stress for both students and parents. It’s essential for local governments to provide resources, such as counseling and information sessions, to guide families through the maze of preparations. Ensuring that students feel supported during this transition period is paramount to their mental well-being.
Editor: Well said, Dr. Han! In closing, what overall message do you think Guro-gu is sending to its residents with these initiatives?
Dr. Han Ji-ho: Guro-gu is clearly signaling that they are committed to safety and community well-being, both in terms of immediate concerns like winter weather and longer-term challenges like education. This kind of engagement fosters a sense of trust and strengthens community ties, which are essential for resilience, especially in times of crisis.
Editor: Thank you, Dr. Han, for your insights. It’s been a pleasure discussing these vital community initiatives with you today!
Dr. Han Ji-ho: Thank you! It’s been great to share in this conversation.
