Guro-gu has won the Manifesto Best Practice Competition for two consecutive years. Guro-gu (Mayor Moon Heon-il) announced on the 1st that it had won the Excellence Award in the Population Structure Change Response category at the ‘2024 National Basic Local Government Heads Manifesto Best Practice Competition’ on the 31st.

Guro-gu announced a policy to expand convenience facilities and welfare functions for the disabled under the theme of ‘Guro-in, Growing, a city where everyone grows through warm companionship’ in 2023, and won the award for the second consecutive year after receiving the best award in the inequality reduction category.

The 2024 Manifesto Best Practices Competition, hosted by the Korea Manifesto Implementation Headquarters, was divided into seven areas: △Improving jobs and employment environment △Alleviating social inequality △Alleviating economic inequality △Responding to population structure changes △Climate, environment, and ecology △Vitalizing local culture △Strengthening communities.

From June 17 to 21, 186 cases were selected through the first written review out of a total of 355 policy cases submitted by 148 local governments across the country, and the final award-winning local government was selected through the second presentation review held at Inje University in Gimhae, Gyeongsangnam-do from July 30 to 31.

Guro-gu announced a policy to create a dementia-friendly infrastructure environment and support dementia patients and their families, including the expansion of dementia-friendly villages, the creation of memory-strengthening parks, the operation of dementia-friendly senior centers, and the Dementia Family Healing Program conducted once a week, under the theme of “Aging in Guro, It’s Okay to Have Dementia.”

In particular, the ‘G-Bro Project’, a mock training program for responding to missing dementia patients, which was the first of its kind in Seoul, as well as the ‘Establishment of a branch of the Dementia Care Center’ and ‘Operation of a Memory Cafe’, received excellent evaluations and were honored with an Excellence Award.

Guro-gu Mayor Moon Heon-il said, “I am delighted to have achieved this result following the selection as the highest (SA) grade in the manifesto pledge implementation evaluation last May,” and added, “We will continue to do our best to create a city where seniors with dementia can enjoy a happy old age.”

Meanwhile, Guro-gu is focusing on promoting 75 pledged projects divided into six major areas: advanced industry, empathy and communication, safety and health, and jobs.
