jpnn.comSEMARANG – The General Chairperson of the Nahdlatul Ulama Executive Board (PBNU) Yahya Cholil Staquf said that NU must be above the state, not below the party.
Gus Yahya stated that the essence of his statement came from the message of Mustasyar PBNU Ahmad Mustofa Bisri or who is familiarly called Gus Mus.
“My friends and I from PBNU visited the mustasyar KH Mustofa Bisri, asked for his message, his will to us, and he said that NU must be above the state,” said Gus Yahya in his inauguration speech for the Central Java PWNU at the Sultan Agung Islamic University (Unissula) Semarang, Saturday (3/8).
He said that Gus Mus’ message could be interpreted as meaning that NU must submit its interests, including overcoming various partial interests that exist in Indonesia.
According to him, Gus Mus’ message will bring NU to be able to continue to contribute to supporting the integrity of the nation and the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI).
“So it is not allowed under the state, let alone under a party, it is not allowed. This is important to understand,” said Gus Yahya.
The older brother of Minister of Religion Yaqut Cholil Qoumas stated that he has plans for a major restructuring within the PBNU.
