(ANSA) – TOKYO, OCTOBER 27 – Japanese gymnast Hitomi Hatakeda left the hospital where she was being treated for a spinal injury following a fall last week while preparing for the finals of the 2021 Kitakuyshu World Championships, in Japan. Hatakeda, 21, posted a photo of her on Instagram that shows her standing alone as she leaves the hospital. “I am sorry that I was unable to meet all the expectations of the Japanese fans who passionately supported me during the World Cup,” wrote the gymnast. Without giving further details on his injury, he added that he will now focus on his recovery and work “hard to get back as quickly as possible”. She had fallen during training on the bars, causing fear of severe injuries to her spinal cord and vertebrae. Hatakeda, a member of the Japanese team at the Tokyo Olympics, had qualified fourth overall for the all-around final at the World Cup which ended last Sunday, but was forced to give up after her accident.
