Nicola Colacurci, full professor of gynecology at the University of Campania is the new president of the Italian Society of Gynecology and Obstetrics (Sigo), which brings together all the medical-scientific societies of the gynecological area (Aogoi, Agui and Agite) accredited to the Ministry of Health. “My presidency will be at the service of Italian gynecology which is called to play a fundamental role in the immediate post Covid through the proposition of active policies aimed at strengthening every possible and useful action for the development of women’s health”Declared the newly elected president at the national congress, which ended in Sorrento, in the presence of almost 2 thousand specialists.
“I will work with the newly established Sigo management with a look to the future, structuring that operational program that aims to continue to be a reference both for women and for the country system”, echoed the elected president Sigo Vito Trojano. Giovanni Scambia, full professor of gynecology at the Gemelli University of Rome, elected president of Agui confirms how research is at the basis of the development of the discipline: “We are called to continue to lead research programs aimed at studying the best clinical and diagnostic practices continuing to be a reference also in an internationalist perspective. With the help of my colleagues, I will intensify the scientific activity also thanks to the evidence offered by the pandemic in progress “.
Elsa Viora, who continues to lead the Aogoi, highlights how gynecology continues “to make a difference throughout the national territory” and is “an essential point of reference for the National Health Service, therefore, also from the perspective of the NRP, it will be possible to offer that technical contribution necessary to guarantee the effectiveness of the investments that can be done with regard to the gynecological specialty in support of women’s health. Unanimous thanks to Antonio Chiantera, past president Sigo, for having led the Federation, in one of the most complicated moments for everyone, showing with the many activities carried out, the centrality of Italian gynecology, always ready for the challenges to which it is called.
