Gypsy Rose Blanchard is speaking candidly about her love life after prison.
In a new interview with PEOPLE, Blanchard opened up about what allegedly transpired behind closed doors with her now ex-husband, Ryan scott Anderson, leading to their separation.
"I still struggled when I first came out of prison," Blanchard told the outlet of her sex life after being released from Missouri’s chillicothe Correctional Facility, where she served 8 years of a 10-year sentence for her role in the murder of her mother, Dee Dee Blanchard.
However, Blanchard is now retracting previous statements about their intimacy. She told PEOPLE, "Ryan and my sex life was not ideal.I told him privately. Maybe it was a lack of attraction in that area or if I still wasn’t processing properly."
Blanchard’s comments coincide with the news that she has officially finalized her divorce from Anderson, as reported by TMZ.
Blanchard delved deeper into her post-prison relationships and experiences with sexuality in her forthcoming memoir, My Time to Stand. The book also explores the sexual abuse she claims to have suffered as a child.
Blanchard alleged that her former partner, Nicholas Godejohn – currently serving a life sentence for Blanchard’s mother’s murder – also abused her. She revealed that she began exploring her sexuality further while incarcerated but struggled to fully enjoy the experiences until reconnecting with her current boyfriend, Ken Urker.
"When Ken came into the picture again," she shared, referring to their first sexual encounter, "you’ve got to understand there was seven years of built-up tension there and it was amazing. I was able to feel agreeable with him.”
"That’s how we conceived our baby girl," Blanchard said proudly. "It’s going to be Aurora."
With her parole ending next year, blanchard is looking forward to motherhood and a more private life.
"I’m really excited to just obviously bring her into the world and have a lot of family time together," she said. "I’m transitioning to a more private life, but it’s going to be a slow transition."
My Time to Stand is available for preorder wherever books are sold.
