As a result of the hacking of the Poly Network platform, hackers have withdrawn over 600 million US dollars (in terms of 512 million euros) in several cryptocurrencies. The amount of stolen funds has become the largest in the history of decentralized financial services, said representatives of the platform operator on Tuesday, August 10. According to analyst firm The Block, hackers could gain access to the private key to sign transactions.

The Poly Network released the addresses of the wallets used by the hackers and called on the cryptocurrencies involved in mining to block the keys coming from these addresses. Company representatives suggested that cybercriminals contact them to find a solution and return the funds. This is a major economic crime, Poly Network said.

According to the Ciphertrace cybercrime expert group, 76 percent of the hacker attacks committed in the first 7 months of this year were in the decentralized financial services sector. As a result, $ 361 million (€ 308 million) were stolen. This is 2.7 times more than in the entire 2020.
