Minister believes that PL will solve tax problems and increase, on average, R$ 50 billion per year in government resources

Diogo Zacarias/Ministry of Finance Minister of Economy celebrates another victory in Congress

On the night of this Wednesday, 30, the Minister of Economy, fernando haddadcelebrated the approval of the Carf (Administrative Council of Tax Appeals) in the Senate. By 34 votes to 27, the senators approved the PL that imposes changes in the rules and that can increase in BRL 59 billion annual government resources. “What happened today is very important for the Farm because in a way it gives back to IRS the power that every Federal Revenue Service in the world has to exercise its function, which is to guarantee the tax base of the Brazilian State”, he said. According to him, the work of eight months of negotiation is an “inestimable” gain for the country. “I think that the result we achieved now allows us to re-establish a procedure within the Federal Revenue that will return to the original revenue levels of 2019 and 2018 through the administrative process. Our estimate is that we were losing something around BRL 50 billion per year either in the form of a transaction, or a judicial deposit”, he explained. “Wherever you look, this gain is invaluable because it will anticipate the solution of many of the tax problems we face and with the guarantee that the taxpayer will be treated in the manner agreed with the Brazilian Bar Association“, finished. The highlights of the text are being analyzed by the senators and, if there are no changes, the PL passes to presidential sanction.
