jpnn.com – JAKARTA – Haidar Alwi Institute founder R. Haidar Alwi hopes that the President-elect of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, will retain General Listyo Sigit Prabowo as the Chief of Police rather than appointing him as a minister or head of an agency.
Haidar Alwi conveyed several reasons why Prabowo should keep General Listyo as number one in the Bhayangkara Corps.
“In addition to his long working life until 2027, the capacity and capability of General Pol. Listyo Sigit Prabowo as the Chief of Police are more needed to oversee the Prabowo-Gibran Rakabuming Raka Government in the future,” said Haidar in a statement received in Jakarta, Thursday (12/9).
He said that retaining General Listyo as the Chief of Police was also necessary, because the Prabowo-Gibran government would face the 2024 regional elections.
Haidar stated that the Police played an important role in ensuring that the agenda ran safely and peacefully.
Moreover, he continued, the 2024 Election proved that the track record of the Police during General Listyo’s leadership was optimal with safe and peaceful implementation compared to previous elections.
He also added that the change in leadership was feared to have an impact on the internal Polri and synergy with other institutions, thus affecting security and order in society.
“Meanwhile, the new government needs stability considering the challenges in a political year are not easy,” he said.
