A crowd of thousands arrived today (Friday, 24/6/2022) even in hot and hot temperatures to march at the colorful event. The LGBT community is celebrating 53 years of struggle and pride in the “Stonewall riots” that took place in 1969 in New York, USA. “Stonewall Riots” was a series of extremely severe and violent spontaneous confrontations against New York City police, in protest of homophobia and constant and ongoing violence on its part, against gays and transgender people. The riots began on Saturday, June 28, 1969 and today, 53 years later, the “Pride Parade” is marching with its head held high and with great pride in the city of Haifa as well.

The Stonewall riots are now considered a landmark in the history of the struggle for LGBT rights. This was the first time that gays, lesbians, bisexuals and transgender people revolted in an organized manner against government abuse against the background of sexual orientation and gender identity.
