Rain ⁣Causes Chaos in Mexico City

The relentless rains that have plagued Mexico City continued this Wednesday, leading to hail and affecting several⁣ districts. In response, the Secretariat for Comprehensive Risk Management and Civil Protection (SGIRPC) issued a yellow alert in 13 municipalities.

Social networks were flooded with reports of hailfall in the southern and central areas of the capital, with photographs showing a light white covering on streets, avenues, and cars in Coyoacán, Benito Juárez, and Miguel Hidalgo.

Emergency teams from various agencies collaborated⁤ under the “Operation Rain 2024” initiative to ‌mitigate the effects of the storm. The⁤ Mexico City‍ Water System (Sacmex) deployed a fleet of response teams and equipment⁢ to address the ‌situation.

SGIRPC attributed the flooding, waterlogging, and⁤ fallen trees to softened soil and strong winds. Firefighters responded to emergencies across the city, ⁤while police assisted with traffic flow ⁤in affected areas.
