RIYADH: Contrary to the norm, the Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has decided to start the booking for next year’s Hajj pilgrimage very early, according to reports. It has been decided to start the registration for Hajj at the end of August, the month of Safar in the Hijri year. The Saudi Gazette reported that domestic pilgrims will be registered first. But there is no official announcement about this yet.

Preliminary consultations were held

The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has held consultations with the Coordination Committee for Domestic Hajj Pilgrims and representatives of Business Solutions Platforms as part of preparations for next year’s Hajj Pilgrimage. The meeting discussed matters including how the internal registration should be for the next year.

No electronic draw next time

It is learned that the Ministry has decided that the electronic lottery method used to select domestic Hajj pilgrims for this year’s Hajj will not be implemented next year. Instead of this method, pilgrims will have the opportunity to register themselves. The ministry also plans to reserve 25 percent of the seats for the next Haj for people above the age of sixty-five.

A new package called Economy-2 will come

Apart from this, the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has decided to launch a fourth package called Economy-2 for next year’s Hajj along with the current packages for Hajj accommodation, the Saudi Gazette reported. Those booking this package will be accommodated in buildings outside Mina. It is indicated that it will cost less than other packages.

Fees for Hajj must be paid in December

According to the new registration method, those registering from Swafar 1 will have to pay the fees for the Hajj package in two installments before 30 Jumadul Awwal or before 24 December. The first installment fee is to be paid within 72 hours of registration and the second installment before 30th of Jumadul Awwal. Late registrants will have to pay a one-time fee within 72 hours of completing registration. The newspaper reported that the ministry has also informed that the fees paid by pilgrims after completion of registration will be transferred to the accounts of domestic Hajj service companies from Rajab 1.
