London: Former world number one Simona Halep of Romania and Kazakhstan’s Elena Rybakina in the semifinals of the 2022 Wimbledon women’s section.
In the quarterfinals, Halep defeated American Amanda Anisimova and Elena defeated Australian Ayla Tomlanovic. With this, the women’s section became the semi-final line-up.
Halep defeated Amanda in straight sets. Amanda could not even compete against the experienced Halep. Score: 6-2, 6-4. Halep is also a former Wimbledon champion. In 2019, Halep won the Wimbledon title.
Elena defeated Tomlanovic after a three-set battle. Despite losing the first set, Elena fought hard and won the next two sets to clinch the match. This is Elena’s first Grand Slam semi-final entry.
She will face Elena Halep in the semis. Germany’s Tatiana Maria will clash with Tunisia’s Ons Yabier in the other semi-final.
