Regina Halmich once had her nose fixed after it had broken three times. Before the TV boxing match against Stefan Raab, she hopes to step out of the ring without breaking anything.
Next Saturday, September 14, Regina Halmich will step into the boxing ring against Stefan Raab for the third time. A few days earlier, the former professional boxer revealed in an interview with RTL what she absolutely wants to avoid in her fight against the TV legend.
When asked if there will be broken noses again, the 47-year-old replied: “Well, I hope at least that my nose won’t be broken, because I actually had it fixed after my career; it was broken three times. In the first fight I broke Stefan’s nose and so we’re excited to see what breaks this time.”
However, she has “neither fear nor anxiety,” says Halmich. “But you always go into the ring with a certain amount of respect. When fists hit you, it’s never a walk in the park and it can always happen that a direct hit gets through. In that respect, I think it’s important that you also have respect for this sport,” she gives an insight into her thoughts.
She expects a “well-trained Stefan”. Halmich’s expectations of her well-known opponent in the boxing ring seem to be high: “We want to go six rounds together and to be in the ring for six rounds is something you just can’t do without really hard training.” Her plan for the fight: “I’m highly focused and I won’t let him go for a second.”
The big TV boxing match “The Clark Final Fight” will take place on September 14th in Düsseldorf’s PSD Bank Dome and will be broadcast live on RTL and as a stream on RTL+ from 8:15 p.m. It is also the big TV comeback of Stefan Raab, who said goodbye to his active television career in 2015.
Stefan Raab unsuccessfully fought against the former boxing world champion in 2001 and 2007. The 57-year-old even let her break his nose in the ring. Halmich had a rapid career as a professional boxer from 1994 to 2007. She was the undefeated WIBF world champion from 1995 until the end of her active martial arts career.
With her first boxing match against Stefan Raab in 2001, she made her breakthrough as a boxer known throughout Germany. A few months after the second duel against the then “TV Total” presenter, she ended her sporting career with a big farewell fight in 2007. In 2022, she was inducted into the “Hall of Fame of German Sports” and the “International Boxing Hall of Fame”.
