The Prime Minister of the Libyan government, appointed by the House of Representatives, Osama Hamad, issued urgent instructions to deal with the repercussions of the heavy rains in Sabha, which caused floods and power outages in the city, and led to two deaths and about 33 injuries.

Hamad issued instructions to the “Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Water Resources, Ministry of Electricity and the relevant authorities to quickly deal with the crisis that the city of Sabha and its suburbs are going through due to the increase in rainfall that caused torrents, floods and power outages in the city and the fall of a number of victims, including deaths and injuries.”

The government statement, published on its official page, stated that “while the Libyan government, its presidency and members, extend their deepest and most sincere condolences to the families of the victims, they call on all citizens to heed the warnings that were previously announced and to exercise caution when moving between cities and regions in the south, especially those adjacent to valleys and areas where torrents flow.”

The statement added, “Forecasts indicate bad weather conditions and heavy rainfall. We ask God to make it beneficial rain.”
