Hamad visits Chad, discusses immigration and security cooperation

The Prime Minister of the Libyan Government assigned by the House of Representatives, Osama Hamad, discussed with the President of the Republic of Chad, Mahamat Idriss Deby, in the capital, N’Djamena, ways of joint cooperation and coordination to combat the phenomenon of illegal immigration and organized crime in a way that protects peace and stability in the two neighboring countries, and the importance of increasing and developing security cooperation in the border areas.

The discussions addressed “the importance of implementing the international road that will link Libya, Egypt and Chad, which the Egyptian government has expressed its readiness to finance, provided that Libya agrees and secures the companies that will work on its implementation.”

President Dubai welcomed the understanding reached at the joint ministerial meeting for transportation, communications and transport, and the constructive discussions held between representatives of the two Chadian governments, and his readiness to fully cooperate in implementing the security and economic agreements in a way that achieves the interests of the two countries and peoples and consolidates the strategic relations between them.

In turn, the Prime Minister-designate of Libya thanked President Dubai for the warm welcome and generous hospitality, and praised the depth of historical relations between the two countries and the ties that bind the two peoples, stressing the Libyan government’s keenness to strengthen and consolidate them.

Hamad expressed his keenness to enhance cooperation between the two countries to achieve sustainable development, activate treaties and agreements and put them into effect, achieve an effective economic, social, security and military partnership, and address immigration issues in a manner consistent with human rights and under the umbrella of the African Union, of which Libya is one of the founders and main pillars.

Hamad stressed the strategic importance of implementing the land route linking Libya, Chad and Egypt and the great economic benefits it will bring to the peoples of the three countries, supporting transit trade between Libya and Chad, studying the implementation of the railway project and cooperation with Chad to benefit from the free zone in Sirte, the Sirte International Seaport, as well as launching air navigation lines and direct flights between N’Djamena, Benghazi and Sirte.
