Hamad visits Nouakchott and discusses strengthening economic relations

The Prime Minister of the Libyan government assigned by the House of Representatives, Osama Hamad, discussed with the Mauritanian President, Mohamed Ould Ghazouani, in the Mauritanian capital, Nouakchott, ways of joint cooperation and coordination of positions on regional and international issues of common interest.

The talks addressed “ways to enhance bilateral relations between the two countries in various fields, especially the political and economic fields.”

President Ghazouani welcomed the Prime Minister-designate, “wishing peace, stability and prosperity for sisterly Libya,” and “praising the authenticity of the Libyan people, the antiquity of their origins and lineages, and their deep belonging to their land, nation, religion, civilization and roots.”

The Mauritanian president expressed his thanks for Hamad’s invitation to visit Benghazi “for dialogue, consultation and contribution with the African Union in reaching a political solution and comprehensive national reconciliation,” stressing “the historical relations between his country and Libya, the founding member of the Arab Maghreb Union and the African Union, and the two countries’ keenness to strengthen them and implement the agreements concluded between them in the fields of economy, investment and joint ministerial committees.”

For his part, Hamad expressed his “thanks to the Mauritanian President for the warm welcome and generous hospitality, and extended his sincere congratulations to the Mauritanian President for winning the confidence of the Mauritanian people for a second presidential term after free and fair elections,” stressing Libya’s keenness “to strengthen relations between the two countries in all fields, and to implement treaties, agreements and memoranda of understanding and put them into effect.”

Hamad arrived in Mauritania yesterday, and the Prime Minister was received upon his arrival at Nouakchott International Airport by a high-level official delegation representing the Mauritanian government, which included the Secretary-General of the Government, the President’s Advisor, and the Minister of Transport.
