Hamas accused the Israeli Prime Minister on Sunday, Benjamin Netanyahuof “obstructing” a truce agreement in Gaza Strip following the latest round of negotiations in Doha.

“We hold Benjamin Netanyahu fully responsible for the failure of the mediators’ efforts, of obstructing an agreement and the lives of the hostages“who are in the same danger as our people from the continued bombing of the Gaza Strip,” the terrorist movement said in a statement.

Let us remember that USA on Friday presented a new compromise proposal after two days of talks in Doha between US, Qatari and Egyptian mediators with Israel.

The proposal “responds to the conditions set by Netanyahu, in particular his refusal to accept a permanent ceasefire and to a complete withdrawal from the Gaza Strip“, according to Hamas.

The Israeli Prime Minister also “established new conditions on the exchange of prisoners and backtracked on other points, thus preventing the conclusion of the agreement,” the statement added.

Shortly before, Netanyahu denounced the Islamist movement’s “stubborn refusal” to reach a truce, calling for pressure “to be directed at Hamas” and “not at the Israeli government,” on the eve of a meeting with the US Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, who just arrived in Tel Aviv to push for an agreement.

In the statement, Hamas reiterated “its commitment to what was agreed on July 2, based on Biden’s statement and the Security Council resolution,” calling on mediators “to assume their responsibilities and force the occupation to implement what was agreed.”

The first phase of the US president’s plan provides for a six-week truce, accompanied by an Israeli withdrawal from densely populated areas of Gaza and the release of hostages kidnapped on 7 October.

The second phase includes a complete Israeli withdrawal from Gaza.
