A senior Hamas official indicated this Wednesday, November 29, that the Palestinian Islamist movement was ready to release all the Israeli soldiers it detains in exchange for all the Palestinians imprisoned in Israel.

“We are ready to release all the soldiers in exchange for all our prisoners”Bassem Naim, a senior Hamas official and former health minister in Gaza, said at a press conference in the South African city of Cape Town.

A source close to Hamas also judged “unsatisfactory” Israeli proposals to extend the truce. “Any discussion on an exchange of military prisoners, soldiers and officers, must be preceded by a cessation of (Israeli) aggression and the lifting of the blockade which is suffocating Gaza”he added, also evoking the need to discuss “exchanges of prisoners over 18”.
A sixth group of hostages released
According to a source, earlier in the evening, the Palestinian Islamist movement had handed over “the sixth group” of Israeli hostages released as part of an agreement with Israel to the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC).
