A senior leader in the Palestinian Hamas movement said that it “decided to stop negotiations” with Israel regarding a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.

The leader explained to Agence France-Presse that “the head of Hamas’s political bureau, Ismail Haniyeh, informed the mediators and some regional parties during a round of communications and phone calls, of Hamas’s decision to halt the negotiations.”

The decision was attributed to Israel’s “lack of seriousness,” its “continuous policy of procrastination and obstruction, and its perpetration of massacres against defenseless civilians.”

The Al-Mawasi area, designated for displaced persons in the southern Gaza Strip, was subjected to Israeli raids, which resulted in the death of at least 91 Palestinians and the injury of at least 300 people, while Israel said that it targeted the leader of the military wing of Hamas, Mohammed Deif, in the raids.

Khalil Al-Hayya, deputy head of Hamas in Gaza, denied that Al-Daif was killed in the Israeli attack on Al-Mawasi.

The Palestinian Ministry of Health announced yesterday that the number of people killed in the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip since November 7 has risen to 38,443, most of whom are women and children, and more than 88,481 others have been injured.
