Nobel Prize-winning author Han Kang did not give up ‘The Throne’ in the bestseller list for the last week of 2024.

Kyobo Bookstore’s weekly bestseller for the fourth week of December was Han Kang’s novel, which swept the top three. 1st place was taken by ‘Here Comes a Boy’, 2nd place was ‘Vegetarian’, and 3rd place was ‘No Goodbye’. Han Kang’s ‘White (2nd Edition)’ and ‘I Put Dinner in the Drawer’ were also in the top 10, ranking 7th and 8th, respectively.

‘Common Siblings 18’ also gained popularity. It rose one notch from the previous week and ranked 4th. It is loved not only by children but also by parents as it combines fun elements with educational effects.

Economic outlook books such as ‘Trend Korea 2025’ and ‘Trump 2.0 Era’ also ranked in the top 10. Kyobo Bookstore’s analysis is that this is due to readers’ high interest in predicting economic and social changes in the new year and identifying future trends.

Overall, the novel category accounted for a large portion of the bestseller list. In addition to works by Han Kang, Yang Gui-ja’s ‘Contradiction’ rose two places to 9th place overall, and Jeong Dae-geon’s ‘Torrent’ jumped 7 places to 14th place overall.
