First big test and first defeat for Paris Saint-Germain in the Handball Champions League. After winning their first two matches of the competition against Szeged and Zagreb, the Parisians lost on the field of Kielce (30-29), the team which had already beaten them at the gates of the Final Four last June.

The Karabatic brothers and their teammates competed at the start of the match, before slowly letting the Poles take the advantage. After leading by four points midway through the first half, the team of Dylan Nahi, Nicolas Tournat and Benoît Kounkoud returned to the locker room with a single goal lead at the cost of a final boost from the Parisians.

Four goals for Dylan Nahi

The second period experienced the same trajectory. The Poles initially managed to widen a significant gap, even leading by five points a quarter of an hour from time (23-18). Determined and combative, the Parisians came back to score but never managed to equalize. They ultimately lost by just one point, despite seven goals from Kamil Syprzak and five from Sadou Ntanzi and Elohim Prandi.

On the Polish side, Szymon Sicko is the top scorer of the match with eight goals. Dylan Nahi scored four, including a very valuable one in the final minutes. This first defeat will force the Parisians to secure a victory against Kiel or Aalborg to hope to secure one of the first two places in the group, significant direct qualification for the quarter-finals of the Champions League.
