Ministry of Communications Director General Liran Avishar Ben-Horin informed the communications companies earlier this year that the reform to abolish the obligation to split between infrastructure and providers is progressing to the last stage, according to which in April no more split sales of Internet services will be allowed to new subscribers.

Until now it was possible to purchase the service in a split way in the way that the consumer purchased an internet infrastructure service separately and an internet provider service separately. This arrangement affected the quality of consumer services in Israel. Consumers who have suffered setbacks have often been tortured between the infrastructure company and the supplier, and a phenomenon of “dormant subscriptions” has developed in the market – continued unconscious payment to the communications company despite the cessation of receiving services from it.

Bezeq approached the ministry with a request to allow it to move and transfer Bezeq International’s Internet subscribers.

The publication of Bezeq’s move prompted other Internet providers to contact the Ministry of Communications to postpone the move, in order to give smaller suppliers the option to compete and also on the assumption that existing customers, at least most of them, will remain with Bezeq.

Also, last Thursday, Bezeq decided to cancel the merger of Bezeq International and yes, a merger that was supposed to reduce the total costs for the company and streamline work on yes, which should be the one that will lead the merged company to competition in Internet and multi-channel television. Pressure from employees caused the company to decide to cancel the merger.

Bezeq found that Bezeq International could not continue to exist in the existing format, so they decided to close the company and merge its operations into yes. It will be recalled that Bezeq International currently owns server farms in Israel, provides Internet services and so on. All these services, Bezeq editorial that can be distilled using yes and save costs. The workers thought otherwise and the said merger was canceled.
