National Human Rights Commission Chair Atnike Nova Sigiro explained that on July 12-13, 2024, her team had conducted a field review.
In addition, they also made requests for information at the location of the incident.
Atnike confirmed that Komnas HAM is also investigating the alleged burning of the house of a journalist who, before he died, was actively reporting on gambling in the area.
“Komnas HAM has examined eight witnesses and conducted a field review at the scene of the incident in Kabanjahe,” said Atnike in her statement in Jakarta, Thursday (18/7).
He said that Komnas HAM would then coordinate with the North Sumatra Regional Police and the Bukit Barisan Military Police Detachment (Denpom) to request information on the law enforcement process for the case.
Komnas HAM has asked that law enforcement in the case of the death of journalist Rico Sempurna Pasaribu, who was burned to death, also be carried out against the intellectual actor.
