Handloom weavers demand Govt Dinamalar

The handloom weavers have requested to issue a government order for the scheme of providing 30 percent special discount subsidy to the handloom weavers’ cooperative societies for 100 days from the day of Annadurai’s birth.
The government provides 20 per cent discount subsidy throughout the year to compete with handloom fabrics for sale in primary handloom weavers’ cooperative societies.
In consideration of Diwali and Pongal festival, special discount subsidy is given for 100 days i.e. up to Jan 31, on the occasion of Annadurai’s birthday on 15th September every year, increasing by 10% to 30%, in order to sell handloom fabrics without delay. . Currently, the Tamil Nadu government has not issued an order to provide special discount subsidy for 17 days after Annadurai’s birthday.
As a result, thousands of handloom weavers’ cooperative societies across Tamil Nadu have stockpiled textiles. This special scheme was introduced during DMK regime when Karunanidhi was Chief Minister.
The weavers have demanded that Chief Minister Stalin intervene and issue an ordinance for 30 percent rebate subsidy.
