US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said the US was not informed of Israel’s intention to eliminate the head of the political wing of the Hamas terrorist group, Ismail Haniyeh, in Tehran and did not participate in this event.

Blinken stressed that the United States intends to promote peace in the region and will try to avoid escalation of the conflict by offering diplomatic solutions and striving to stabilize the situation.
US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin, in turn, declared the US readiness to defend Israel in the event of an attack. According to him, Washington will defend the Jewish state if it is subjected to aggression after the murders in Tehran and Beirut.

Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei said Israel had “prepared a severe punishment for itself” and that Tehran must avenge Haniyeh’s death. Iran’s new President Masoud Pazian also issued an anti-Israel statement, saying Tehran would make the “terrorist occupiers” regret their “cowardly” murder.

The Iranian side, including former Revolutionary Guard commander Mohsen Razai, warned that Israel would pay a “heavy price” for its actions. Iranian media said that Haniyeh’s assassination “will only strengthen the resistance” and that the rocket that killed the senior Hamas terrorist was launched from outside Iran, an act of aggression.

Israel has not yet officially commented on the information about Haniyeh’s liquidation.

Earlier, Cursor wrote that the media refuted the statement by Iranian officials that the missile that was used to eliminate Haniyeh was launched from outside Iran.
