Hanneke van Laarhoven Joins Supervisory Board of Comprehensive Cancer Center of the Netherlands

Hanneke van Laarhoven, professor of translational medical oncology at Amsterdam UMC Cancer Center Amsterdam, joined the supervisory board of the Comprehensive Cancer Center of the Netherlands (IKNL) on Thursday.

She takes over the duties of Liesbeth de Vries (UMCG), who stepped down in April after two terms of office. Van Laarhoven is head of the medical oncology department and focuses on gastrointestinal oncology. She obtained her doctorate in both medical sciences and theology.

Thijs Merkx, chairman of the IKNL executive board: “We are pleased to have a worthy successor to the ‘consulting room perspective’.” Gijs de Vries, chairman of the supervisory board: “IKNL plays an important role in oncological care. Themes such as appropriate care and the Integral Care Agreement require data and interpretation from the NKR, aimed at prevention, care and aftercare. It is then a privilege to be able to work with someone with expertise, who works constructively critically.”
