Hannibal, the son of the late leader Muammar Gaddafi, criticized the judiciary in Lebanon, accusing it of “overlooking” information provided by a former minister, regarding the disappearance of Shiite Imam Musa al-Sadr, more than four decades ago.

Gaddafi said in a message he addressed in English to judges in Lebanon, via the “X” platform: “Gentlemen, I am sure that you all heard what Mr. Wiam Wahhab revealed in an interview on Al-Ghad channel, where he stated that he had information about Al-Sadr’s fate, but you did not take any action and did not make any statement.”

He continued: “I wonder if the cat ate your tongues?”

Hannibal Gaddafi was arrested in Lebanon in December 2015, when an arrest warrant was issued against him on charges of “withholding information” regarding the disappearance of al-Sadr, who was last seen in Libya on August 31, 1978, days after arriving there on an official invitation.

Former Lebanese Minister, Wiam Wahhab, said in television statements that he “has information” about Al-Sadr’s disappearance after his visit to Libya.

In a previous interview with the Russian Sputnik Agency, a “source close” to Gaddafi explained that the latter had asked the Lebanese judiciary to take Wahhab’s statement, considering that his request amounted to “sending an official report to the Lebanese judicial investigator.”

In late April, the Ministry of Justice in the Government of National Unity in Libya asked the Lebanese authorities to provide guarantees, due rights, health care, visits and correspondence to Gaddafi, “while stressing his right to be released without conditions, as the charge against him has not been proven, or there is the slightest evidence linking him to the case for which he is being detained.”
