Hapoel Tel Aviv Returns to Premier League with Touching Tribute
After a two-month hiatus due to the war, Hapoel Tel Aviv is making a poignant return to the Premier League. The team, known as the Reds, played against Hapoel Haifa with a powerful gesture of solidarity with the communities surrounding Gaza.
Instead of their family names, the players of Hapoel Tel Aviv had the names of the towns written on the back of their shirts. This was done as a tribute to the residents who have been displaced from their homes due to the ongoing conflict.
“We remember October 7th,” Hapoel Tel Aviv stated. “The surrounding settlements experienced an unimaginable disaster, and the players wanted to show their sympathy and solidarity with the residents who have been impacted by the war.”
In addition to this moving tribute, the club also honored the late Eric Einstein, a singer and creator who was their most famous fan. The players wore the phrase “love that never ends” on their shirts as a tribute to the iconic artist, and Israeli flags were displayed around the court in memory of those who are no longer with us.
The club also paid respect to the victims of the war and the martyrs of the Iron Swords War by wearing black ribbons during the game.
In a further tribute to Einstein, Hapoel Tel Aviv inaugurated a memorial wall in the Khodorov complex earlier in the week. The wall displays the singer’s image alongside a quote from one of his songs, “Auf Gozal.”
With these powerful gestures, Hapoel Tel Aviv is not only making a triumphant return to the Premier League, but also showing their support for those affected by the recent conflict and honoring the memory of Eric Einstein.
