London: Few people have not heard of the character of Dracula wandering around at night drinking human blood. The novel by Bram Stoker, a world-renowned Irish writer, is known as the Godfather of Gothic Stories. Dracula was born on May 26, 1897.

This year marks the 125th anniversary of the death of Count Dracula’s ghost, who roamed the Carpathian Mountains of Romania amid the howls of wolves in the dark. Dracula is the birthplace of the fictional character ‘Vampire’, with its sharp horns sucking human blood.

Despite being a scary character, Count Dracula has a lot of fans. A group of fans have set a Guinness Book of World Records for setting a slightly different record as Bramstoker marks the 125th anniversary of Dracula. On Thursday, 1,369 people lined up in front of a 13th-century Whitby Abbey in North Yorkshire, England, setting a new record.

This is the first time so many vampire costumers are lined up together. The event is the brainchild of English Heritage, which is responsible for the preservation of more than 400 historical monuments in England. At the same time, the initial plan was to mobilize 1,897 people.

Vampire costumes paired with black pants, a shirt and a hat, or a black dress, shoes, and waistcoat, all reminiscent of a medieval Gothic tale, appeared in front of the centuries – old Whitby Bee.

In 2011, they broke the record of 1,039 people lined up in Virginia, USA. It is said that Bramstoker visited Whitby in 1890 before writing Dracula, and that this place inspired him to write a novel.
