Award-winning photographer VG Harald Henden was 63 years old.
– Harald died quietly and peacefully in Diakonhjemmet hospital today at 11 am with his good friend Morten Rostrup from Doctors Without Borders by his side, explains responsible editor Gard Steiro in VG for his own newspaper.
Henden grew up in Porsgrunn. He joined VG as a photographer in 1987. First to the Bergen office, then to the main editorial office in Oslo.
Cancer
He was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer which had spread to the liver in October.

– The disease is a full time job in itself with chemotherapy and exams. I also chose to say yes to interviews like this and some podcasts. For the past 35 years I have been involved in getting people to stand up and feel obligated to do it myself. The cancer department at Ullevål Hospital understands that I am open and informative, it might help othershe said then.

Knight
Henden has received many awards for his efforts as a war photographer.
He also learned that the King appointed Saint Olav a knight of the 1st class of the Royal Order of Norway. This happened on Friday.
