Harald Schmidt, the 66-year-old presenter and cabaret artist, expressed a lack of concern regarding the agitated mood surrounding the upcoming elections in East Germany and the US presidential election.
In an interview on ”Studio 9 – The Day,” Schmidt argued that election results are simply an indication of a healthy democracy. He suggested that anxieties surrounding elections in states like Thuringia are actually problems with democracy itself, proposing the abolishment of elections or predetermining results. He cited Venezuela as an example of this manipulation.
Schmidt also expressed a lack of concern about a potential Trump victory, dismissing concerns that a re-elected Trump would abandon US military protection of Europe. He questioned the effectiveness of US military interventions and expressed skepticism about the current political climate, suggesting that the media’s portrayal of candidates can change drastically throughout an election cycle.
Schmidt also expressed a lukewarm opinion of Kamala Harris, drawing parallels to the initial reception of Martin Schulz, a former SPD candidate for chancellor. He questioned her ability to convince voters, particularly those who support Trump.
