The former OM player underwent successful surgery on Friday for a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee and is expected to miss several months of competition.

Bayern Munich defender Bouna Sarr was successfully operated on Friday for a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee, the German club announced in a press release, an injury which will require long months of break.

«Bouna Sarr suffered a rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee during training. The Senegalese full-back underwent successful surgery on Friday and will be absent for the next few months», Explained Bayern.

The 31-year-old Senegalese arrived in Bavaria at the beginning of October 2020 from French club Olympique de Marseille. He is under contract at Bayern until June 30, 2024. In three and a half seasons with Bayern, he has only played 33 matches, with limited playing time (a good half hour per contested match).

He has often been slowed down by numerous injuries (kneecap, adductors) and had surgery on his left knee at the start of last season.

The international (13 caps), starter during the CAN-2022 coronation, won three German championship titles with Bayern (2021, 2022, 2023), as well as a German Super Cup (August 2021) and a Club World Cup (February 2021).

He was absent during the 2022 World Cup and will miss CAN-2024 (January 13-February 11) in Ivory Coast.
