After the legislative setback that left the Government weakened, the head of the La Libertad Avanza (LLA) Deputies bloc, Oscar Zago, indicated that the omnibus law will not be discussed, by decision of President Javier Milei.
The fury that Milei poured out on his social networks thousands of kilometers from Buenos Aires echoed in the bowels of the Government. Front-line officials assure that rejection of the law “was a possible option.” They were waiting for him. They were aware of the proximity to failure.
“The law will not be treated again as it was sent to the National Congress. The President has made the determination. He said that for them to destroy the law is not worth it and we are not going to deal with it again,” Zago said
Milei said from Israel that he gave “the order to lift the bill” of the “Bases” law that the Chamber of Deputies returned to committee, after “the political caste began to dismember” the initiative.

Meanwhile, the president and his team are analyzing the possibility of calling a plebiscite on the ‘omnibus law’. «If he has to resort to popular consultations he will do it too. “He already said it in the electoral campaign,” said the Minister of the Interior, Guillermo Francos, this Wednesday.
Just as happens with the Omnibus Law. The regulations clarify that “a project that, after being sanctioned in general, or in general and partially in particular, returns to committee, when considered again by the Chamber, will be subjected to the ordinary procedure as if it had not received any sanction.”
What does it mean that the text returns to committee? That the process returns to its starting point. Formally, should the commissions reconsider the bill presented by the Executive Branch and issue a new opinion?
