Kannur: Four persons have been arrested in connection with the murder of CPM activist Haridas in Thalassery Punnol. RSS activists Vimin, Amal Manoharan, Sumesh and Lijesh were arrested. Lijesh is a city councilor and BJP constituency president.

Seven people were taken into police custody yesterday in connection with the murder. Four of them were arrested. He was arrested on charges of conspiracy.

The brother had said yesterday that Lijesh had publicly threatened Haridas. Haridas had not been to work for a few days due to threats. Surendran had yesterday said that he was attacked by RSS workers in connection with a dispute at the Punnol temple.

Haridas, a fisherman, was hacked to death around 2 am yesterday. The incident took place at Punnol near Thalassery New Mahi. Haridas was hacked to death near his house. Haridasan, who was returning from work, reached the kitchen area and handed over the fish to his wife Mini, who was on his way to the front when the assailants jumped out.

Relatives also rushed to the spot after hearing the commotion. The violence took place in front of relatives. The attack was carried out by a group of assailants who arrived in two bikes. Sahojaran Suran was also hacked while trying to stop the violence against Haridas. Haridas had more than 20 cuts on his body. The left leg was amputated and thrown away.
