State Minister of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives. Abdul Wadud Dara said, my ministry is working tirelessly to modernize cooperatives in building Smart Bangladesh, the brainchild of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. A nationwide digital database of cooperatives will be created very soon along with modernizing the Cooperative Act. In this way smart citizens will be developed in every ward.
He said these things in the speech of the chief guest at the function organized by the International Cooperative Alliance at the conference room of the Directorate of Cooperatives in Agargaon of the capital on Saturday (July 6) on International Cooperative Day. This year the theme of the International Day of Cooperatives is ‘Cooperatives build a better future for all’.
Explaining the importance of the cooperative agriculture system of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu’s dream, the state minister said that if each of the 1 crore 2.2 million cooperatives engages in a new production-oriented agricultural system, then Bangladesh will soon become the golden Bengal of developed and prosperous dreams.
He said that concerted efforts are needed to utilize the immense potential resources of Bengal. For this, the crisis of leadership at the rural level should be overcome.
Abdul Wadud Dara said, ‘The work will be paperless. We need to learn from the developed world to fully digitize the cooperative farming system through the magic touch of information technology. The country is yours, mine, all of us. Therefore, for the sake of the country, for the development of the country, personal interests must be sacrificed.’
