The conference is produced and initiated by the Amai organization in cooperation with the Embassy of Japan in Israel with the aim of bringing to Israel a part of the power of anime at the world level of conferences such as the famous “Comicon”, the MCM conference in London and others that attract many fans and lovers of the genre from all over the world.

During the conference, as every year, the “Cosplay Contest” (the largest costume contest in Israel) will take place with the participation of competitors from all over the country who will compete for the best costume. It is worth noting that all the costumes are all handmade independently! During the competition, the Japanese ambassador to Israel, Mr. Mizushima Koichi, will speak about the security situation and its impact on the community.

The late 12-year-old Noya Dan and the late soldier Tomer Shlomo Miara were very active in the anime community and in light of the situation and this year, their family members decided to give awards on behalf of their loved ones who are gone and continue their legacy.

The late Noya Dan, who was murdered with her grandmother Carmela on 7.10 in Kibbutz Kisufim, was preparing to come to the conference on Purim together with her mother Galit.

This year, Galit Dan will award a prize to young anime lovers like the late Noya.

The late Tomer Shlomo Miara, a 28-year-old soldier in Nefo, a member of the anime community, fell in battle in Gaza and his family and friends wish to perpetuate his legacy and award a prize in his name in the competition.

Also at the conference – a singing and dancing competition “Mother Idol” in which the contestants are invited to sing songs from favorite series in a performance in the style of Japanese and Korean idols who are now sweeping the web. During the conference, there will be over 27 lectures and workshops on anime, manga and Japanese culture from lecturers from the community. The lectures and workshops are delivered by content creators from the community, including bachelor’s and master’s degree graduates in the field of Asian studies, makeup and calligraphy artists, tour guides who will recommend trips to Japan, and more.

The participants of the conference will have at their disposal a particularly large booth complex, which includes booths of artists and painters from the community who will sell unique products, 2 floors of booths with products from Japan, as well as commercial booths such as Steamtski, Komikaze 2.0, comics and vegetables, and more. Harukon conference is one of the two flagship events of the Amai organization (the Israel manga and anime organization) held in the nation’s buildings. Amai is a non-profit organization that has been working for over fifteen years to promote anime, manga and Japanese culture in Israel.

The conferences are attended by thousands of children, teenagers and adults who enjoy a variety of activities, original musicals, new games and consoles, cool booths, panels of guests from abroad, new animated films from Japan, local and international singing and costume contests, and more. The conferences are held in cooperation with the Embassy of Japan in Israel.
