Chandigarh: In the meeting of the BJP’s state election committee, the panel of candidates from all 90 seats for the 2024 assembly elections was finalized. This meeting was considered very important amid reports of the active role of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and preference to new faces in the selection of candidates. In this meeting of BJP, tickets of many current MLAs and ministers are expected to be cut. According to sources, the RSS has suggested fielding new faces on about 60 seats on the basis of its survey and strategy. Especially on those seats where the BJP has not been able to win in the last two elections. However, the BJP is preferring to stick to the winning formula. The State Election Committee has prepared a panel of one to four names from each assembly constituency, which will now be handed over to the RSS officials for further scrutiny. These RSS officials will monitor the selection of candidates and election management. Let us tell you that in this meeting held on Friday under the chairmanship of Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and Lok Sabha MP Biplab Deb, Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, CM’s representative Nayab Saini, State BJP President Mohan Lal Badoli, Organization General Secretary Phanindra Nath Sharma and other members participated.

RSS gave this suggestion
Based on its internal survey and strategy, RSS has suggested bringing new faces on most of the seats, in which many MLAs can also be removed. On the other hand, BJP wants to bet on candidates with winning potential. Based on its survey of 90 assembly seats, the Sangh has recommended bringing new faces on at least 60 seats. Especially on those seats where BJP has not been able to win in the last two elections and has faced defeat in the Lok Sabha elections.

‘Win and survive’ candidate is the only criterion
After the meeting, Mohan Lal Badoli said that after survey reports and other procedures, names of around 3,000 potential candidates were considered, out of which panels have been prepared. ‘Jeeta aur Tikko’ candidates are the only criteria. Performance of MLAs and candidates, ratings in the party’s internal survey and opinion reports of district units were considered as criteria while finalising the names.

Gyan Chand Gupta wants to contest elections

Talking to the media, Assembly Speaker and Panchkula MLA Gian Chand Gupta said that the RSS was active in the last elections and its role will remain the same in these elections as well. I have expressed my desire to contest the elections. Desperate to form the government for the third consecutive time in Haryana, the RSS and the BJP are jointly working to formulate a common strategy.
