Chandigarh/New Delhi: BJD is busy finalizing its strategy for the Haryana elections. Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Haryana election in-charge Dharmendra Pradhan and several other leaders will hold a meeting at JP Nadda’s residence today. The BJP aims to form the government in the state for the third consecutive time, but this time it may face an anti-incumbency wave. The party plans to take several important decisions to deal with this challenge. If sources are to be believed, this time the BJP will give priority to women candidates and will not give tickets to 40% of the current ministers. According to sources, the party may make massive changes in its candidate list. The party will keep in mind the winning chances of the candidate on every seat to ensure victory. According to a report by CNN News 18, a top source has told that our sole objective will be to ensure that we keep in mind the dynamics of the respective seats while selecting each candidate and consider the candidate’s ability to win that seat.

40% ministers may lose their tickets

Haryana will go to polls in a single phase on October 1 and counting of votes will take place on October 4. It is believed that tickets of 40% ministers in the Haryana government may be cut. Former minister Sandeep Singh, who is facing allegations of sexual harassment, is certain to be denied ticket. The party is also keen to give a chance to many women candidates, especially those who have a good chance of winning. Some candidates who lost the recent Lok Sabha elections held in April-June and did not get tickets, such as Sunita Duggal, may also get a chance.

They are sure to get tickets

The party may also field Bhavya Bishnoi, son of former MP Kuldeep Bishnoi from Adampur, and Shruti Chaudhary, daughter of newly elected Rajya Sabha member Kiran Chaudhary. Rao Indrajit Singh, a minister in the Narendra Modi government, is seeking a ticket for his daughter Aditi. Given the dynamics of the region, the party may give her an assembly seat.

BJP will contest elections on local issues

Anti-incumbency wave, anti-Jat sentiment, farmers’ agitation and anger of wrestlers. The top leaders of the saffron party are well aware of these issues. A source said that the strategy for the assembly elections will be completely different and the election will be fought entirely on local issues. In fact, the seats and their dynamics may decide the strategy in every part of the state. By projecting Manohar Lal Khattar as a non-Jat chief minister a decade ago, the BJP wanted to give a strong message in a state dominated by Jat politics. Special emphasis will continue to be given by the party to woo Punjabi OBCs and other voters in the state.

There may be a competition between Vinesh and Babita
At a time when the BJP is facing a tough fight from the Bhupinder Singh Hooda-led Congress in the state, there is talk of fielding wrestler Vinesh Phogat. The BJP has once again put her cousin Babita Phogat in the list of potential candidates. BJP national spokesperson Rajiv Jaitley can also be made a candidate. He is currently an advisor to the Haryana Chief Minister.

BJP’s list may be released soon

The BJP is likely to approve candidates for almost half of the 90 assembly seats in the state at the Central Election Committee meeting scheduled to be held on Thursday evening. The first list of candidates is expected to be released on Friday. In 2019, the BJP had won 40 of the 90 assembly seats in the state. To form the government, it had to form a post-poll alliance with the Dushyant Chautala-led JJP. Manohar Lal Khattar remained the Chief Minister of the state while Chautala was made the Deputy Chief Minister. Just before the Lok Sabha elections, the alliance broke down and Khattar was removed from the post of Chief Minister and was asked to contest the general elections while Nayab Singh Saini replaced him. Recently, Union Home Minister Amit Shah announced that the party will go with Saini as the chief ministerial candidate in the upcoming assembly elections.
