‘Has been with Mammootty since 1992’; Michael Kappan’s Shivankutty: Interview with Abu Salim

by time news

Malayalees have a special fondness for Abu Salim. Abu Salim has been a silent presence with Malayalam cinema for forty years. But this law enforcer, who even won the title of Mr. India, the dream of the youth, was obsessed with cinema. It was a dream come true for Abu Salim, who had made his presence known in Malayalam cinema through many small and large roles, to play an important role in the Amal Neerad-Mammootty film Bhishmaparvam. The actress is happy to be a part of Amal Neerad’s movie which she has been wanting for a long time. Abu Salim is happy that so many films, including Tiger and Power Star, are coming, and this strong, innocent man with the dialogue “Everything has its time, Dasa”.

Mass and Class Bhishma Parvam

Bhishma Parvam is a movie in which Mammootty and Amal Neerad come together after 15 years. The film was eagerly awaited by the audience. For the film to achieve a success beyond everyone’s expectations. Amal Neerad has long wanted to act in a film. I was told in the beginning that he had put on a good role. Two months before the film started shooting, Amal Sir called me and said, “Abuka has a role in the new film. Grow a beard and hair. Come here and do the rest.”

So I grew my beard and hair for two months. But the shooting could not start at the scheduled time. The shooting started a month or two later than expected due to Kovid. When I arrived at the location, he said, “I have nothing to do with the look. The character of Shivankutty is standing in front of me now.” Little did I know that my character was so important. When the shooting was over, the approximation was obtained. But I could not watch the movie. I saw the movie when it came to the theater. Bhishma Parvat was the best role of my career. Thanks to Amalsar for that.

Bhishmaparvam is a film that has given a new lease of life to the theaters, filmmakers and audiences that were closed during the Kovid era. One hundred percent of the seats were allotted at this time and all the theaters were able to see the overflowing view. Bhishmaparvam has become a movie that everyone has a good opinion of. Another thing is that not even a small character in this movie just comes and goes and everyone is important. The story begins with the first auto show. Mammootty has broken down into the character of Michaelappan even in appearance and looks without the over-emphasis of dialogue. The shooting took place at the writing house. Everyone learned the dialogue and beautified their part. Since it was a spot dubbing, everyone acted very carefully. After Kovid, Bhishma has come with excitement and hope for everyone. The film was well received by the people.

Shivankutty of Michael

He has been working with Mammootty since 1992. Mammootty has a personal relationship beyond the movie. There is no movie but people call and share love. He has done both positive and negative roles in many of his films. This is a character similar to Katti in Prajapati. But what makes it special is that it is Mammootty’s obedient character who does not participate in any of the action scenes.

Shivankutty is a faithful man who obeys Michael’s commands with his body language and facial expressions. In the very first scene, the director talks about the influence of Shivankutty on Michaelappan. When the Shivankutty leaves, he forgets his own blood relationship. Glad to have been able to do such an important role. My belief is that my character was able to do it spontaneously without being overbearing. It’s not my fault, it’s what I did. Mammootty’s suggestions and comments have helped me a lot to improve my character. That’s why the character is so happy that he was able to do so well.

A film that satisfies everyone

Amal Neerad Sir’s film is one that will satisfy all types of audiences. Old and young alike can enjoy it. Srinath Bhasi’s plot and a single song ‘Paradise’ are enough for the youth to celebrate. Saub’s family lord, Shine’s villain, Dileesh Pothen’s MP, all got better. Comedy for comedy, family audience has the thread of relationships, religious unity, mass expectation and class expectation. When KPAC Lalitha Chechi and Nedumudi Venu Chettan came on screen, I was overwhelmed. Amal deserves the most praise. Acting for the first time in his film was a great experience.

The responses have been astonishing

When Bhishma came out, I got a response that I have not got for any other film. Actors, directors, colleagues, friends and relatives all call and comment on my character. Bhishma’s success has been a resounding success in the film industry itself. I went to see the first show at a theater in Mukteshwar. It was well received, including by theater owners. Bhishma also brought a lot of excitement and excitement to the theaters. The pleasure of watching the show with everyone in the theater cheering and celebrating is something else. Film is a field of work that a lot of people do. It takes a lot of people to wake up to that industry that is connected to everything from filmmakers who spend crores of rupees to light boy and theater sellers. I’m happy to do whatever role I get but I really liked the role of Bhishma. Glad to have God help and still get roles like this.

Arnold Schwarzenegger is my role model

Arnold Schwarzenegger arrived in Chennai at the invitation of Vikram for the audio launch of the Tamil film ‘I’. Vikram called me and said that he was coming. That is how I went to Chennai and met him. It was the day I fulfilled the greatest wish of my life. About talking to him face to face and taking photos. I grew up watching him. He is my role model. I became interested in bodybuilding after reading his book “Encyclopedia of Bodybuilding”. It helped me win the titles of Mr. Calicut, Mr. Kerala, Mr. South India and Mr. India. I also followed the training methods of Arnold Schwarzenegger. The desire to see him from a young age meant that life was blessed when it was possible.
