Sifan hassan (31,Netherlands) and Rechille Tebogo (31,Botswana),who made⁤ new history in track and field ⁣at ⁤this year’s Paris ⁢Olympics,each received the 2024 World Athletics Federation (WA) men’s⁤ and Women’s Athlete of the year award.

WA held the 2024 awards ceremony in Monaco on the 2nd and awarded best athlete awards to a total of six people, one each from men’s and women’s track, field, and road⁣ events. Hassan was selected as the best athlete⁢ in the women’s road and Tebogo was selected ‍as the best athlete in the men’s track ⁣and field. Player of the Year ‍was chosen by fans from among the six players selected as the best players in each sport.

Hassan,who went on stage after ⁣being named‍ Female⁢ Athlete ⁤of the Year,said,“Thank you to everyone who voted.‌ I ⁢never thought I would win this award. This‌ year was truly amazing. ‍It was a truly amazing year, not only for⁢ me​ but also for the other players. “I have nothing to ‍say​ except that I am ‌truly grateful,” ‍he said.

Hassan won three medals in‍ track‍ and road events at the Paris Olympics, including a bronze​ medal in the 5000⁣ and 10,000 meters and a gold medal in the women’s marathon.
