Hasbro Apologizes for False Claims about Activision’s Transformers Games on Xbox Game Pass

Toy and board game company Hasbro has issued an apology to video game publisher Activision for spreading false information about the availability of Transformers games on Xbox Game Pass. Hasbro, known for its popular line of Transformers toys, had claimed that Activision had lost the hard drives containing the games, resulting in their absence from the subscription-based service.

The claims were initially made in an interview with Transformers World, where a member of the Hasbro team expressed the company’s desire to see the old Transformers games revived on Xbox Game Pass. They suggested that the reason behind their unavailability may be Activision’s inability to locate the hard drives that contain the game files.

“Sadly, apparently Activision’s not sure what hard drives they’re on in their building,” the Hasbro representative stated. “When a company eats a company that eats a company, things get lost, and that’s very frustrating. Hope is that now that the deal is moving forward with Xbox Game Studios (Microsoft) and Xbox, they’ll go through all of the archives and every hard drive to find it all because it’s an easy Game Pass add.”

However, Hasbro has now admitted that these comments were made “in error” and has apologized to Activision for any confusion caused. In an official statement provided to VGC, Hasbro stated, “To clarify, comments that suggest Transformers games have been lost were made in error. We apologize to Activision and regret any confusion – they’ve been great partners, and we look forward to future opportunities to work together.”

Currently, several Transformers games published by Activision, including Transformers: Devastation, Transformers: Fall of Cybertron, Transformers: Rise of the Dark Spark, and Transformers: War for Cybertron, are unavailable for purchase digitally. The false claims by Hasbro had raised concerns among fans and gamers who were eagerly anticipating the arrival of these iconic titles on Xbox Game Pass.

The apology from Hasbro not only clarifies the situation but also acknowledges the partnership between the two companies. It remains to be seen whether the confusion caused by Hasbro’s comments will have any impact on future collaborations between the toy company and Activision.

As for the availability of the Transformers games on Xbox Game Pass or other platforms, no further updates or announcements have been made. Gamers and fans of the franchise will have to wait for Activision or Microsoft to address this matter directly and provide clarity on the situation.

In the meantime, enthusiasts of the Transformers series will need to explore alternative means to experience these games, such as seeking out physical copies or exploring other digital storefronts that may still offer them for purchase.
