Burkina: “Hate corruption!” asks the Minister of Security to new police officers

Ouagadougou, July 21, 2023 (AIB)-“ Be human rights defenders. Protect the widow and the orphan, hate corruption”, advised the Minister of Security Emile Zerbo, to 936 new police officers, called to participate in the effort to reconquer the entire territory of Burkina Faso.

“Faced with terrorist threats, the 52 promotion, through my voice, is committed alongside the elders, to contribute effectively to meeting the security challenge with honor, pride and above all in professionalism”, declared the General Delegate (DG) of the promotion, Sayouba Sawadogo.

According to him, the “Reconquest” class is made up of a total of 936 police students, including 747 National Police non-commissioned officer students and 189 municipal police students.

Mr. Sawadogo was speaking Friday at the National Police Academy of Ouagadougou, on the occasion of the official release of the 52nd promotion of the said training school.

According to him, the non-commissioned officers of the national police, the agents, the assistants, the controllers and the municipal police inspector followed theoretical and practical courses for two years with the supervision of seasoned trainers.

“Today, we are trained and seasoned law enforcement officers who will never back down from the call of duty, ready to serve the nation and defend the national colors wherever the need arises,” added the DG of the promotion.

The Director General (DG) of the National Police School (ENP), Oumarou Songnè urged the new police officers to keep the same determination, to redouble their commitment and vigilance to support their brothers in arms already engaged in the restoration of territorial integrity.

“You come out at a time when our country is going through decisive moments in its history and the need for active staff on the ground has become an absolute necessity,” he continued.

The representative of the Prime Minister, the Minister in charge of the Public Service, Bassolma Bazié, indicated that the government will mobilize all the necessary means for the benefit of the new police officers to enable them to better lead the fight.

“This reconquest is made at the cost of blood, tears, sweat and the populations must consent to the payment of taxes without a murmur so that we can win this fight”, explained Mr. Bazié.

The Minister in charge of Security, Emile Zerbo, for his part, urged the new police officers to be honest and exemplary in their services and their units.

“Be the defenders of human rights. Protect the widow and the orphan, hate corruption,” he advised.

The 52nd promotion outing of the ENP under the theme “Contribution of the National Police Academy to the implementation of the National Security Policy” was sponsored by the President of the Interprofessional Business Council of Burkina Faso, Lassiné Diawara.
