Météo France has put the Haut-Rhin department on orange alert for the risk of violent thunderstorms, from today, Monday July 15, 2024, for the event to start at 7:00 pm
These storms will follow a very hot day. The most intense phenomena are announced in the evening, or even at the beginning of the night:
– significant hailstones (cliff stones several centimeters in diameter possible);
– violent gusts of wind: 90 to 100 km/h, or more locally;
– heavy rain: 20 to 30 mm, even 40 mm in a short time;
– many lightning strikes.
Behind this stormy decline, localized stormy showers are still possible. The situation will gradually improve in the middle of the night from Monday to Tuesday.

• Take the usual precautions to shelter things that are sensitive to the wind;
• Do not take shelter under trees;
• Avoid using landline telephones and electrical appliances;
• In case of heavy rain, do not go down to basements;
• Immediately report any fire you may see;
• Avoid all outdoor activities and gatherings;
• If possible, limit your travel throughout this storm event.
