Haute-Garonne: the track of a privileged feminicide after the death of a British woman followed by the suicide of her husband

by time news

A woman of British nationality, found dead on Sunday at her home in Boudrac in Haute-Garonne, was most likely killed by her husband, before the suicide of the latter, the prosecution said on Wednesday.

“At this stage of the investigation, we have all the elements corroborating the thesis of a feminicide, namely that Mr. strikes, strangles this lady and puts an end to her life” by hanging, specified the prosecutor of Saint- Gaudens (Haute-Garonne), Christophe Amunzateguy, for whom it would not be “a consented suicide of both”.

This 65-year-old Briton, who was allegedly killed on Thursday April 21, was found dead on Sunday, near her hanged husband. An investigation for aggravated voluntary homicide followed by suicide had been opened, according to France bleu. Her autopsy confirmed that she had been beaten before being strangled and that of her 64-year-old husband established the absence of third-party intervention.

“Based on the autopsy and the elements of the investigation”, including a letter from the husband reporting financial difficulties and his wish to end his life, “we no longer have any great uncertainties about the author and on the macabre scenario”, affirmed Christophe Amunzateguy. A year and a half ago, the couple – she from Barnsley in the north of England, he from Dunbridge Wells in south London, according to France bleu – had acquired a house in the small town of Boudrac, near of Saint-Gaudens, where he offered guest rooms.
