DECRYPTION – The region has managed to attract an entire ecosystem around the electric vehicle.
The project is gigantic. Five billion euros of investments. Up to 3000 job creations. The fourth battery manufacturing plant in France, carried by the Taiwanese ProLogium, will be announced with great fanfare by Emmanuel Macron this Friday in Dunkirk, the city chosen by the Asian group for its establishment. To attract such investment, massive state aid is needed. At least 1 billion euros for the ProLogium plant.
This will be the fourth plant to supply batteries to electric vehicles in France. What do all these projects have in common? They are located in Hauts-de-France. And these are not the only industrial investments in the region.
Steel giant ArcelorMittal is converting one of the blast furnaces at its Dunkirk site to use hydrogen instead of coal. A major project that exceeds one billion euros in investment. And Renault has largely begun the transformation of its factories…
