Back in 1999, there was a collaboration between two labels. SNK vs. Capcom that brings the characters of the two camps together The last installment was released in 2003 titled SNK vs. Capcom: SVC Chaos, then went silent and fans of the game demanded that it do it again.
It seems that after nearly 20 years of waiting, it may become a reality when SNK producer Yuki Oda, who also directed King of Fighters 16 and producer of Samurai Showdown, said that she is. There are plans to talk to Capcom to rebuild the game.
In the past EVO2022, fans have seen character posters from both camps and are very fond of each other. So we know that our fans are demanding to see the characters from these two labels meet again. And we have a lot of experience crossover in different games, so the feedback from the posters at EVO is a good place to start.
But when asked if fans would have to wait 20 years to actually play, Oda added, “Twenty years is too long for me. We will try to make it a reality within 10 years.”
Capcom also agreed to create another game together. Capcom game director Hideaki Izuno is also interested in the story. But still busy developing Devil May Cry and Dragon’s Dogma 2 that are coming out. It has been revealed that we actually have two ideas for a fighting game that we want to do, just “waiting for the opportunity” to do it.
It’s a good sign that fans of both Capcom and SNK games want to see. SNK vs. Capcom come back again which will have to wait to follow
